Warlord Games: Upcoming Doctor Who Miniature Game - First Miniatures Previewed

For those who managed to miss this exciting news, Warlord Games has acquired the Doctor Who license and will be doing an official miniature game based on the Doctor Who adventures!

Warlord Games is absolutely delighted to have secured the licence to produce a miniatures game based on the BBC's enormously popular TV series, Doctor Who (back on BBC One on September 19th!). So delighted we might just have a celebratory jelly baby. As lifelong Doctor Who fans ourselves, we are extremely pleased to have the chance to bring this iconic series to the tabletop with a game system you all know and love as well as the official range of miniatures to complement it.

The licence covers not just the latest series of Doctor Who but encompasses all of the Doctors, their companions and their foes. So, expect to see Sea Devils as much as Weeping Angels, Leela as much as Martha Jones, and a long, brightly coloured scarf as much as a fez (fezzes are cool, by the way...).

Warlord Games will produce a starter game as well as a hardback book detailing instructions for how to defeat Doctor Who‘s foes. There will be a new game system created to fit into the Doctor Who universe and to allow the existing characters to work to the best effect. So more as their popular Judge Dredd miniature game based on individual characters than large scale platoon actions such as Bolt Action.

The following miniatures were previewed at Salute 2016. These particular Doctor Who miniatures were sculpted by Russ Charles and painted by Kirsten Williams. You can see pictures of the 10th Doctor, Martha & Wilfred, Judoon - the Inter-Galactic Police and Zygon. The Doctor shown is 33mm high.  Looking promising and looking at the scale comparable with Hasslefree Miniatures.

To end the release date is still unknown as the rules are currently being finalized at the Warlord Games headquarters. Hopefully there will be some sort of public playtesting for the rules, to test and improve them in partnership with players worldwide. So stay tuned for more Doctor Who updates, here on Wargame News and Terrain.
