The Golden D6 is an online wargame magazine which can be easily bought and downloaded from the Sprue Grey website as a portable document format also better known as PDF. "Well, it's that time again! The Golden D6 Issue 7 is out! This one is special. Not because of the number, more that it represents the anniversary of the magazine being published. It's been twelve months of publishing a monthly magazine. Seven issues in. It's a work in progress ... In Issue Seven you'll find the usual array of different games and hobby tutorials. If you've got the chance, I highly recommend checking out Blast Pistol. It's a quick and easy sci-fi skirmish game, as you'll see in the battle report from Dorkside Cookies." Editor Adam Jones

X-Wing: A Hobbyists guide! - The first article that caught my attention was written by wargamer Tom Damin and guides you through converting and re-painting Star Wars X-Wing miniatures. Strange but true finally managed to play my first game this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed the game. So highly recommended if you haven't played this game yet.

As mentionned above, Tom talks you through repainting and converting the miniature spaceships to create unique space vessels or custom fighters.  Although these come pre-painted at a very nice standard, they are often not unique so painting duplicate fighters in different colors can really add to the gameplay and background of your fighting force. Won't be re-painting mine but the article gave a nice inside in possible modifications or conversions such damaged vessels or even adding lights! Next to this some great pictures of nice Star Wars X-Wing miniatures so what's not to like!

How fast you wanna go? - Venture into the world of Mad Max and Car Wars as this article guides you through converting diecast metal vehicles into vehicles of total wasteland mayhem! This particular article was written by Stuart Bannister and contains information of how to convert your cars with milliput, green stuff and all sorts of assorted bits and pieces. Filled with pictures of a cool convention game named Death Race and pictures of different converted vehicles for inspiration.

Terrain By Stefan - One of my favorites as I love casting and making terrain is this article by Stefan. Stefan tells about his venture to create unique terrain pieces from sculpey and other materials and casting them using resin in sillicone/ plaster moulds. Really neatly explained with pictures of each step making this a fool proof guide. Never though of using cheap plaster to decrease the use of expensive sillicone. Really recommended if you're looking to cast your own terrain pieces for private or commercial purposes.

The Conclusion

Editor Adam Jones again managed to gather a nice collection of useful wargame hobby articles ranging from comic style battle reports to tutorials and reviews. The three articles mentionned in my review were my personal favorites as they cover my main hobby interests and I'm confident there's something in The Golden D6 - Issue Seven for every wargamer, miniature painter and model soldier hobbyist. Again highly recommended!
